12 Secrets To Kick Ass At Life – (Part 2)

4 Secrets For  A Kick Ass Body We’re working from the top down and the inside out. The first four secrets worked on your thoughts. Once you have your mind right you’ll want to get your body on the same path. In order to see results on the outside, place focus on what you’re putting inside your body. Going vegetarian, ditching dairy, shaking your sugar addiction, and opting for gluten free are the next four secrets for kicking ass at life and getting a killer body in the process. The 80/20 Principle 80% Purpose 20% Pleasure The 80/20 Principle is the foundation for everything. Basically it says you don’t need to do something 100% of the time to make a difference. In fact, if you cut yourself some slack you’ll see that this being healthy stuff isn’t so hard. Don’t get it twisted. You can not out exercise a bad diet. It just can’t be done. Your daily eating habits (aka your “diet”) are 80% of the body transformation equation. Exercise makes up the other 20%. The good news is you don’t need to be perfect to see real and lasting results. Find a balance between foods that are purposeful (foods that you eat because they’re a good source of protein, healthy fats, complex carbohydrates, or are high in vitamins, minerals, and other phyto-nutrients) and foods that are pleasurable (foods you eat for a more emotional reason). 5. Go Vegetarian Or pesce-tarian or flexi-tarian or whatever version of vegetable eater you can handle. The closer you can get to a vegetarian diet the better off you’re going to be health and karma wise. Vegetarians tend to make better lifestyle choices, which, research suggests contributes to why studies reveal vegetarians live longer, suffer fewer heart attacks and strokes, have less incidence of cancer, prescription drug use, and obesity. Vegetarians also report better moods than their meat eating counterparts. Typically, vegetarians avoid all animal products adding only animal by-products, such as, dairy and eggs to their diet. A Pesce-tarian chooses to eat a vegetarian diet plus adding seafood into the mix. A flexi-tarian is a “sometimes vegetarian” who chooses to eat mostly vegetarian dishes but will also have meaty meals. An easy strategy for changing your lifestyle is to commit to a few days a week or a few meals each day. Once you acclimate to this initial phase you can start...

Why You Should You Choose Organic

Why You Should You Choose Organic

Organic? Or Conventional? Why should you care?   Conventionally grown fruits and vegetables are being treated with pesticides and genetically modified organisms. The adverse effects of these chemicals and artificially altered organisms over the long term are not clearly defined. Who knew that eating your veggies was engaging in a risky behavior? Why organic? If you care about the health of your body and the future of our planet then you’re gonna want to choose organic. Organic refers to the way plants and animals are raised and processed. Organic farmers do not use GMOs (genetically modified organisms), pesticides, hormones, antibiotics, or synthetic products to increase profits. When you eat organic foods you are giving your body unadulterated nutrition. Your body won’t have to struggle to digest and filter antibiotics, artificial sweeteners, toxins, and hormones that nature never intended for your amazing body. Some studies even suggest that organic foods contain more health promoting nutrients per serving than conventionally grown produce. By choosing organic you are supporting the “little guy”. Organic farmers are fighting an uphill battle against the epic high yielding farms of today. Show some love and help send the message that you support farms and foods that don’t pollute the environment or poison your body. People that choose organic foods feel better about their choices. They often feel they’re doing something good for themselves and the planet. The biggest gripe with buying organic would have to be the cost. Organic foods do cost more than conventionally grown foods but usually not more than a few cents. At some high end grocery stores you’ll notice a huge jump in price but now you can find organic foods at your local chain stores more closely priced to the non-organic counterpart. Soon, you’ll stop looking at the price and only be concerned with seeing ORGANIC on the label. Do what you can to choose organic as often as possible but know that some foods are more contaminated than others. The Dirty Dozen + 2 More Studies conducted by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) found the following list of foods to contain the most pesticides per serving. You should definitely choose ORGANIC when buying these foods. celery peaches strawberries apples domestic blueberries nectarines sweet bell peppers spinach, kale and collard greens cherries potatoes imported grapes lettuce kale/collard greens summer squash “The Clean 15” This list of foods consistently contained the lowest...

12 Secrets To Kick Ass in 2014 (part 1)

12 Secrets To Kick Ass At Life First, the touchy feely stuff.  Gratitude, Forgiveness, Manifesting, and Affirmations. These are the things that a realist or cynic may have a hard time placing value in. But here’s the way I look at, why not believe in this stuff? The happiest most successful people in the world are utilizing these techniques to create their trophy worthy lives so why shouldn’t you. These are the ‘behind the scenes’ stuff that really make your personal story rock. Stop the negative sound tracks that are playing in the background and replace them with super positive empowering thought patterns. 1. Be Grateful Especially when you’re ready to make big changes in your life, expressing gratitude to the Universe for the things you have has a way of making you feel more optimistic, energized, and happy. This will in turn keep you motivated, focused, and open to bringing changes into your life. Read more…. 2. Forgive Forgive yourself, forgive your past, forgive your parents, your husband (partner), your sisters, your brothers, your friends, and your kids. Forgive anyone that disappointed you. Forgive yourself for mistakes you’ve made. Make peace. Harboring resentment can send your thoughts into a never ending loop of anger and frustration. Read more… 3. Manifest If you believe in the notion of manifesting, you believe in your own ability to create the life of your dreams. Manifesting uses the laws of attraction to bring into being (or make real for you) whatever you believe and desire. Sounds pretty great, right? But here’s the catch, you have to really BELIEVE that you deserve these things and that these things can happen to you. For example, if you’re trying to manifest a new career that lets you work from home part time while earning full time income but the soundtrack in your mind is saying, “That can’t really happen to you.” Guess what?…It won’t. Read more… 4. Affirm Affirmations are powerful positive statements about the future you that are stated in the present tense. They declare who you are, what kind of life you live, the body you have, the relationships you’re in, your dream career, etc.  They do not state what you don’t want! This is a big no, no. Your brain and the Universe don’t hear the difference between “I want” and “I don’t want”. You gotta keep it positive. Read more… Coming up...

Gratitude

“The power, the wisdom, the creativity of the universe — you open the door through gratitude,” Deepak Chopra Especially when you’re ready to make big changes in your life, expressing gratitude to the Universe for the things you have has a way of making you feel more optimistic, energized, and happy. This will in turn keep you motivated, focused, and open to bringing changes into your life. You can do this out loud, on paper, or just in your head. Do it in the shower, on a run, before getting up in the morning or before you fall asleep at night. Here’s an example of what I say, “I’m grateful for this hot water, this roof over my head, these nice things, my car that runs, my legs that work. I’m grateful for a job that pays and these clothes in my closet.” Even though I want to change most of those things….I want a new house, I want a new wardrobe, a nicer car, a career more in alignment with my life purpose, etc. That doesn’t mean that I’m not grateful for what I have right now! Studies suggest that a new habit can be formed after 30 days of repetition. You’re 30 days from a happier more satisfied you and a whole new attitude….of gratitude. Start right now! Forgiveness

Forgiveness

“Forgiveness is the key to action and freedom.” – Hannah Arendt Forgive yourself, forgive your past, forgive your parents, your husband (partner), your sisters, your brothers, your friends, and your kids. Forgive anyone that disappointed you. Forgive yourself for mistakes you’ve made. Make peace. Harboring resentment can send your thoughts into a never ending loop of anger and frustration. Write down the things you’re holding on to. Don’t edit or reason with your list. Just write it down – you can burn it later ;-). For example here are some of the things I had been holding on to: I forgive my parents for not being rich, I forgive my ex-boyfriend for being unfaithful, I forgive myself for not always treating my body and life like a trophy. Take a deep breathe and let it all go. You can not change the past and living there gets you no where fast. Leave your failures, your hurt, your blame and your shame behind you. Say sayonara to your old ugly baggage. Good, feel better? Now that you’ve kicked all your old shit to the curb you’ve cleared space in your life for shiny new things. And ladies, we all love shiny & new. Click for more secrets to kicking ass at life. If you liked this post and you want more, sign-up for the weekly updates, and like my Facebook page.
